MONSTERS

In the Monster series I dealt with relationships. First, toxic ones - such as possessive tendencies, projection of one's own illusions onto a counterpart, but also psychological or physical violence, closed-mindedness, inability to establish a real relationship and many other motives.

Through persons without human faces, I map more or less bizarre interpersonal relationships from my surroundings and from my experience. Some images (such as Toxic Relationship) speak directly about unhealthy, violent behavior, others (such as The Savior) only about our quite natural tendency to project ourselves onto others and seek salvation in our surroundings.

Gradually, the series grew in mapping relationships in general. For example, the Evening Gathering tells about a friendly-family gathering.

I chose baroque and renaissance portraits of seemingly perfect families or individuals as the initial source of visual inspiration.
